Jefferson Projected Versus Actual Release
The Oregon Department of Corrections calls its future field the “projected release date.” It reflects the agency's current sentence calculation. The date can help with planning, but it does not certify physical departure, identify the next destination, or prove later discharge from supervision. An actual release date records an event that has already occurred. A supervision discharge date may come still later.
Custody type controls the meaning. A person awaiting trial at Jefferson County Adult Correctional Facility often has no fixed date. Recognizance, conditional release, a court order, dismissal, warrant security, or later sentence can change the path. A person serving an Oregon DOC sentence at Deer Ridge Correctional Institution is subject to a state calculation. Reaching that date can lead to the community, post-prison supervision, or another custodian if a detainer applies.

Find Jefferson County Release Dates
Begin with the last known facility. Jefferson County Jail is a county custodian. Deer Ridge is a state prison, though both are in Madras. A name leaving the county Current Inmate List can mean release or transfer. It never creates a DOC projection by itself. Use the county record and court for local custody, and use Oregon Offender Search for a state sentence.
- Identify whether the person was at Jefferson County Jail, Deer Ridge, or another facility. Note the full name, SID, booking number, or case number when lawfully known.
- For an Oregon prison sentence, search Oregon Offender Search by name or SID. Match identity before reading status, location, caseload, offenses, and a projected date if supplied.
- For county custody, call the jail at 541-475-2869. Ask for current custody or the public booking and release record, then review the Jefferson County court judgment.
- Check VISOR for a change notice. A release or date-change alert starts verification but is not certified proof.
- After the expected date, confirm the actual event with DOC, the jail, the court, or the Board. Follow any listed transfer destination.

No Section 19 release-date angle was tagged for Jefferson County. The most useful distinctive treatment is therefore the access-channel split found in the research. Each channel has a narrow scope. Search them in sequence, and do not let one system answer for another.

This channel sweep prevents a common local error. A person who leaves the jail list for Deer Ridge remains confined. A person who reaches a projected DRCI date may enter Jefferson County Community Corrections and remain under supervision. The destination, status, and actual event must agree.
Dates should always keep their labels. Booking date, court-order date, projected release date, physical release date, parole start, and supervision discharge can all differ. Record the source beside each one. If OOS and a court record conflict, preserve both observations and ask the agency that created the disputed field to explain or correct it.
Jefferson Release Dates and Earned Time
ORS 421.121 governs earned-time reductions for eligible Oregon DOC felony terms. DOC may award credit for appropriate conduct and basic-skills participation. The ordinary maximum is generally 20 percent of the total DOC term, and credits cannot reduce actual confinement below six months. Credits depend on eligibility and DOC rules. They may be granted, retracted, or restored.
The statute excludes terms governed by listed laws, including ORS 137.635, 137.700, 137.707, 163.105, 163.107, and 163.115. Measure 11 under ORS 137.700 is not a generic 85-percent rule. Its mandatory minimum generally must be served without the ordinary earned reduction, while ORS 137.712 supplies limited exceptions for specified offenses and findings.
For an ordinary eligible term, the maximum 20-percent reduction implies an 80-percent floor for that eligible term. A Measure 11 minimum is generally served at 100 percent of the statutory minimum, subject to the law's actual exceptions. Murder, life, and other determinate terms have separate rules. A broad national slogan cannot replace the Oregon judgment and statutes.
Note: Earned time is a possible credit under Oregon law, not a promised reduction or a county-jail calculation rule.
Why Jefferson Release Dates Change
A projected date changes when the inputs or controlling legal decision change. DOC says Oregon Offender Search updates after sentence recalculation. Compare the new date with the judgment and agency record rather than assuming an unexplained portal change is an error.

Escape time and eligibility decisions can also alter the computation. No single field explains all changes. For a Board case, request the written order. For a sentence issue, request the calculation or corrected judgment. For a transfer, follow the receiving agency.
Jefferson County Jail Release Calculations
Do not apply the DOC earned-time formula to a county-jail sentence. The Jefferson County court judgment, jail credit calculation, and county custody record control the local term. The research found no published Jefferson County good-time formula, weekend early-release rule, or holiday early-release rule. That absence calls for a direct request, not an estimate built from state-prison law.
A pretrial detainee presents a different problem. There may be no sentence to calculate. Oregon's current release framework uses individualized decisions and standing pretrial orders for new charges. Warrant cases may have court-set security. A court order can authorize release, yet the jail record gives the actual departure time after paperwork and any other hold is resolved.
Ask the jail whether the person remains held, has left for the community, or was transferred. Ask Circuit Court for the judgment or release authority. If the record names DOC as destination, continue through OOS. If it names another county or federal authority, follow that custodian instead.
Jefferson State Release Date Records
OOS accepts first, middle, and last names or an Oregon SID. Partial-name wildcard searches are supported. Broad searches can return people with similar names, so compare the SID, age or birth date, location, status, physical details, caseload, and offenses. A prison location points to continuing state custody. A community caseload can point toward post-prison supervision, though neither field is a certified release record.
The public display may not preserve every former record for an announced period. Research did not establish a former-person retention promise or a literal status label that appears in all discharged cases. If the needed result is missing, do not call that proof of release. Submit a request through the DOC Public Records Center or contact Former Offender Records.
A focused state request should name the person and SID, give the approximate DRCI dates, and identify the exact items. Useful items include the public face sheet, sentence orders, calculation, actual release or discharge date and type, supervising authority, and any public parole-discharge material. For a Board-controlled date, the calendar only establishes that an event was scheduled. A Prison Term hearing may set a projected date or decline to set one. An Exit Interview may affirm or defer a prior projection, while Parole Postponement may delay release after serious misconduct. Request the final Board Action and any later order that modified the result.

Before the date, use VISOR to request a change or release notice. After the date, inspect OOS status, location, and caseload. Then ask the responsible agency for the actual record. A community caseload can direct the inquiry to Community Corrections, but it does not replace a release document.

The data remain periodic and nonofficial. A VISOR event should therefore be paired with the jail departure record, DOC release record, or controlling court or Board order.
Keep the lookup date as well. A later recalculation or delayed feed can make two accurate observations look inconsistent when their timestamps are omitted.
