Deer Ridge Release Paths
Deer Ridge Correctional Institution, often shortened to DRCI, is operated by the Oregon Department of Corrections. It is not a Jefferson County jail. A person there has a state-prison custody record, even though the institution sits near Madras in Jefferson County. County booking pages cannot establish a Deer Ridge release date or discharge.
At the end of state confinement, a person may reach sentence expiration, enter parole or post-prison supervision, or move to another authority because of a detainer. “Parole” generally means supervised release under Board authority for a case within its jurisdiction. Post-prison supervision is community oversight after imprisonment under the controlling sentence and Oregon framework. Full discharge from supervision may come later than physical prison release.

Confirm Deer Ridge Release
Oregon Offender Search is the first public state lookup. Search by first, middle, and last name or use the Oregon SID. The form allows partial-name wildcard searching. Match a result through the SID, age or date of birth, and other available identifiers. Common names should never be matched from the first result alone.
- Search OOS by name or SID and select the correct state record.
- Read Location, Status, Caseload, offenses, and the projected release date when supplied.
- Check Oregon VISOR for a custody or supervision change and register for later alerts if useful.
- If a Board case applies, identify the hearing and request the final written Board Action rather than treating a calendar entry as an outcome.
- Request a DOC face sheet, public pen pack, and actual release or discharge information for official documentary confirmation.
OOS is periodically updated and not an official certified record. A prison location points to continued state custody. A community caseload can direct a search toward supervision, but the responsible DOC or Community Corrections record should confirm the event.
Deer Ridge Release Search Fields
OOS publishes a broader state field set than Jefferson County's local current list. Read each label for its limited purpose. Location, Status, and Caseload are the most useful fields when deciding whether a state prisoner remains confined or has moved into a community path.

The research did not establish a fixed former-record display period or a literal status phrase that appears for every discharged person. Do not promise permanent OOS history. When the live display is incomplete, the DOC records route is the official fallback.

Describe the exact record sought and include the SID, approximate Deer Ridge dates, and the institution name.

Ask for public face sheets, actual release or discharge date and type, the institution, supervising authority or caseload, and a public discharge or parole order when one exists. Request certification expressly if it is needed. DOC no longer uses its older public-record email routes.

Deer Ridge Pen Pack Records
The DOC public-records page explains the official request path. A public pen pack may include public-information printouts, the first and last face sheets, a photograph, court or sentence orders, and some parole-discharge, revocation, or sanction material. The available contents depend on the file and applicable exemptions.
A focused request is more useful than asking for an entire file. Identify the person, SID, Deer Ridge, approximate dates, the actual release or discharge field, the authority, and any receiving agency. Ask whether the record shows community supervision or a transfer. If a requested field is not supplied, record that response without claiming the field never existed.
DOC lists staff time at $25 per hour for clerical work, $40 per hour for managerial work, and $75 per hour for professional work, plus copy, media, and postage costs as applicable. Narrow scope can reduce search time and clarify which pages answer the release question.
Deer Ridge Projected Release Dates
DOC calls the OOS field a “projected release date.” It is the current calculation of when the state confinement event is expected to end. It does not prove actual departure, identify the destination, or establish the later end of supervision. The date can move after sentence recalculation.
Possible changes include concurrent or consecutive judgments, presentence credit, a corrected judgment, earned-credit eligibility, credit awarded or retracted, misconduct, escape time, Board action, parole-plan adequacy, a detainer, or new legal process. DOC says OOS updates after recalculation, and VISOR may send a notice about date changes.
ORS 421.121 permits up to a 20% reduction for an eligible ordinary DOC term based on institutional behavior and basic-skills participation, subject to exclusions and a six-month confinement floor. Measure 11 under ORS 137.700 generally requires 100% of the statutory minimum, subject to actual statutory exceptions. Oregon should not be described with a generic 85% rule.
After the projected date, inspect the new status, location, and caseload and obtain the actual DOC record. A detainer can move a person from Deer Ridge into another custodian's control.
Deer Ridge Release Alerts
Oregon's VISOR portal replaced legacy VINE and VINELink. It covers Oregon DOC, county jails, Oregon Youth Authority, Community Corrections, and the Board. Search by full or partial name, SID, or county ID. Notification channels include telephone, text, email, and TTY.
Events may include a 30-day release approach, release, transfer, death, escape, hearings, and emergencies. VISOR is free, opt-in, and available around the clock. A profile is optional. Current Oregon instructions do not document the old four-digit VINE PIN, so follow the live prompts rather than importing directions from another state.
A VISOR alert is a useful trigger for verification. It remains periodic and nonofficial. For a case within Oregon Board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision jurisdiction, a hearing calendar shows that an event is scheduled, not the result. Request the final written Board Action and any later modification, postponement, revocation, rerelease, or discharge order.
Deer Ridge Post-Release Supervision
A person can leave Deer Ridge yet remain under parole or post-prison supervision. OOS or VISOR may provide a SID, location, or caseload clue. Jefferson County Adult Community Corrections supervises residents assigned locally, not every person ever held at Deer Ridge. Contact the office at 541-475-6145 and ask what public supervision information it can confirm.
Current official sources conflict on the office address. One county page lists 66 SE D Street, while a 2025 statewide directory lists 243 SW 3rd Street, Suite A. Confirm the working address by telephone before visiting. For formal status, obtain the judgment, Board Action, or DOC and Community Corrections record.

No Jefferson County public named-person supervision search or local absconder list was found. An empty county jail roster cannot answer a supervision question.
Deer Ridge and County Release
Deer Ridge opened in 2007 and DOC identifies it as Oregon's newest prison. It is about four miles east of Madras. That location creates Jefferson County's most important custody distinction: one county contains both a local jail and a state prison, but each uses a separate release record and search route.
A person may leave the Jefferson County jail because the state accepted custody. In that sequence, the county record should show a DOC destination, OOS should show the state placement, and the person remains incarcerated. A true Deer Ridge discharge is verified through DOC systems, not by looking back at the county list.
No official source established a federal or ICE detention facility in Jefferson County, and no source showed that the county jail has an ICE detention contract. When a record names USMS or ICE, follow that custodian. Do not treat the Madras location alone as proof that Jefferson County controlled the legal release.
